Welcome To SalsaEnfriado

Welcome to our web site...

We are pleased to announce that our classes will be re-starting on Monday 2nd June 2008.

SalaEnfriado gives salsa lessons in the function room at Kibworth WMC every Monday evening. This is a great place to learn to dance. We currently cater for beginners  and Improvers - so even if you have never danced a step before in your life you will feel at home and you WILL be dancing by the end of the first lesson (OK, by the middle of the first lesson!)

Lesson times:
Beginners: 7.40-8.40
Level 2: 8.30-9.30
Then dance to 10.30 to practise what you have learnt.

The cost of each lesson is just £5.00.

Lesson Structure

Beginners Lessons (level 1)

At beginners level we structure the class into two parts:

  • In the first part we teach you the basic salsa steps, breaking each step down so you undertstand how to dance them. This is done solo, i.e. we do not use partners for this part of the class - this class is taken from 7.40 to 8.00PM.
  • In the second part we teach you to dance those steps with a partner and add variations on the main move.

Each week we teach one of the three main salsa moves: Cross body and left & right turns. We then teach a further move(s) based on the main move. If you attend for three weeks in  a row you will have learnt three main moves. After a few more beginners lessons you should begin to feel comfortable with these moves and their variations. Once you can dance the moves in beginners lessons at the speed of salsa music you can consider moving to the improvers class.

Improvers Lessons (level 2)

Those of you who are comfortable with the beginners moves can move on to the improvers session. In this class we do not teach the basic footwork (you will already know it!) , but spend the time learning a routine with partners.

Common to all lessons

We start each class with a warm up (doing solo steps/shines) and end each class with  warm down - we teach at least one of the solo steps each week.

Information

Q: Do I need to bring a partner?
A: No, we swap partners every few minutes so everyone gets to dance with everyone else!

Q:What should I wear?
A: Anything in which you are comfortable doing light exercise... beginners classes are not too energetic, so no need for a track-suit! We recommend you wear shoes with soles that are not too soft so you can turn easily.
